Fresh Farmings 4/10

Hello Porch Swingers!

I can see the sunshine beautifully through the oak tree pollen haze. A general bless you to the sneezers out there.

Lots of new babies this week! We hatched out 13 of our own from some local eggs. They are Blue Copper Marans, Black Copper Marans and Splash Marans mostly and one stray Easter Egger. Here's info on the breeds from a hatchery we just started using. These Marans will lay a dark brown, chocolate colored egg. From that hatchery I ordered some other laying hens, 25 assorted ones. We'll see what we got as they grow. Here's the chick ID tool that they offe r. Could be any of these!

Our piglets are growing. Piggoletta, our singleton that we were raising here at the house, is incorporating very nicely into the smallish litter of Pelosi. Yeah! She now has brothers and sisters and a nice warm spot in the world. Picture below of her new gang.

Our fashionistas - Vera, Vivienne, Coco and Betsey - are all due to have piglets at the end of the month/early next month. Excited to see these new little ones.

We had a fantastic day at market on Saturday on a really wet, scary weather day. BIG thanks to everyone that came out to see me. All was going fine, albeit a little damp, until right at 11 am when the winds picked up, the sky opened and the trailer rocked. I scooted through the rain into the church and made a cup of tea while I waited out the bulk of the storm, about an hour. When it settled to a little rain, I ventured out and loaded up the trailer. So many huge trees just tipped over. Our condolences to those of you who lost power lines, trees or anything beloved underneath one of the two.

We'll see you all at the Hillcrest Market this week 8-11 am, when the anticipated weather looks perfect. Aaron will be at the meat shack this week so come by and say hi! Ask him about the new Pigadillo!

If you are part of Conway Locally Grown, come see us at

pickup this week. We're bringing samples!

Thanks for all your support!
