Porch Swing Farm Day 3/2
Hey gang! More sunshine and more drying up! Yeah! All the creatures are really loving the temperature and the first nibbles of spring grass. I've started the seedlings for the supplemental pig snacks - beets, salsify, kale, etc. And the daffodils are actually blooming. We thought that the bitter cold would have done them in but, they are popping their little faces up and out.
The geese now think they run the place. I'm going to need a little more labor out of them to promote them to anything other than "Pond Holder Downers". The eggs are still progressing - 32 days is foooorever. They are due to hatch on Monday. I'm hoping for 50% so 3 or 4 of the 7 eggs. Think positive egg thoughts!
I took a cute pic of the piggles faces and then saw this view of a lot of little butts. They're making great progress. Lots of quarreling and the first forays out into the big muddy world. Almost 2 weeks old already!
And the girls. Chickens really are good-looking animals. It's mostly the feathers but they really are lovely.
Have a great rest of the week and enjoy whatever bits of spring you are getting! Best - HP
